Press the trunk unlock button on the key fob if it's working properly. Most cars that have been made post-2000 come with key fobs that allow you to electronically open a vehicle's locks. In most cases, there's a special button on the fob specifically for the trunk. Push that and the trunk will pop open.
If you have the traditional type of car door locks, then you should be able to open this by using a paperclip or a bobby pin. If you are using a paperclip, open it up so that you have two prongs to the clip, similar to the bobby pin. Insert your lock picking tool into the car lock and move it up and down.
Stick the flat end of the pin into the top of the lock and bend it. Stick the pin in about 1 centimetre (0.39 in), then fold the rest the bobby pin until it's flush against the face of the doorknob. This will bend the tip at an angle. You'll use the bent end of the pin to disengage the pins in the lock.

A mandate in 2002 required all cars to feature a standard glow-in-the-dark trunk-release lever, which opens the trunk from the inside in the event of an emergency. ... Older cars — those manufactured prior to the 2002 regulation — are the culprits in most trunk deaths.
Pull the Trunk Release. If you're not lucky enough to see that glowing T-handle trunk release, you still might be able to find the trunk release cable running from the driver's compartment. ...

Keyless remotes contain a short-range radio transmitter, and must be within a certain range, usually 5–20 meters, of the car to work. When a button is pushed, it sends a coded signal by radio waves to a receiver unit in the car, which locks or unlocks the door.
